Rise and Shine! We are getting "into it" - after a long wait and a couple of hick ups - Kaitiaki ! here we come.
Rafting on one of the worlds longest commercially explored waterfalls on the Kaituna river. Team Germany capsized a few times with plenty of excitement and laughs along the way. The next stop was getting us up close with the locals, their ways of living with the thermal activities of the area and a little culture (singing and dancing) along the way. We also learn that contact lenses should not be worn whilst rafting and that it is not an easy project to find replacements for the little "floaties" in the first week of the new year. Timo was lucky enough though. Next stop Wai-o-tapu and Kerosene Creek which proofed "too hot to handle"...more an attraction in the colder season. A rewarding swim in the crystal clear Waikato made up for it...nice and cool. After a beautiful dinner we are off to the hot pools again. A nice finale for the first part of our Nature and Adventure Tour.

Ein frueher Start ins Unbekannte..Rafting auf dem Kaituna Fluss bei Rotorua..7 m Wasserfall und andere Abenteuer werden bestanden. Leider schwimmen Kontaktlinsen sehr gut und schnell weg..gell Timo..Ersatz wurde gluecklicherweise spaeter im Ort und einzigen offenen Optikerladen gefunden. Ein "hoch"fuer die Mitarbeiter von Specsavers!! Besuch des Maori Dorf mit dem unaussprechlichen Namen (siehe Bild),Tanz und Musik und buntes Treiben am lokalen Schwimmbad. Weiter ging es zum Wai-O-Tapu Park und den dortigen heissen Quellen und Pools. Kein Bedarf - bei der Hitze steht uns der Sinn nach Abkuehlung..gesagt getan..der Waikato Fluss erfrischt uns nach einer weiteren halben Stunde mit klarem und kuehlen Nass..Auf zur Unterkunft und schnell ans Abendessen gemacht.. Pasta alla "Tina", Schweinegeschnetzeltem und frischen Obst zum Nachtisch!
Zum Abschluss der Nordinseltour ein gemischtes Bad im Waikato am Fusse von heissen Quellen..getreu dem Motto: "mix your own"..ein schoener Abschluss.
