Building Weekend in Vamdrup

22.September 2007 - Vamdrup

Last weekend was my first non-local building weekend. Like usually I did not feel like going but anyway I had to. The reason I was not very excited was that I heard that Vamdrup and the hell are almost the same. So we left on Friday afternoon in a, well, lets call it not sooooooo good mood. Almost everyone from Lindersvold came exept for the april team since they already had an overdose of this place.
When we arrived we heard about all the different projects (e.g. painting, working on the ceiling or putting on wallpapers...) and we had to opportunity to choose one. There were about five people and one project leader in each group. I kind of did not pay attention when they talked about the projects and accidentely chose one which really sucked. I mean come on image to work two days with Kelly. Our job was to put the yellow stuff also known as insulation material into the ceiling. Then we had to cover the whole thing with plastic. Thanks to Kelly`s high knowledge about isolating a ceiling we used the wrong plastic. Of course he found out when we were already finished and we could start all over it again. You can not image how much fun that was.
The next step was to put wooden boards on top of the plastic. They were not the right size yet thus we had to measure and cut them into the size we needed. Kelly wanted me to be the one who measured but unfortunately this is not one of my best skills (if you don`t believe ask Kelly). As a result that was the second action (after the plastic thing) we had to do more then once. I had no idea that there is a way to get Kelly really pissed but this was even too much for him. And believe it or not on the same day I found another way to have the same result when I tryed to scrule the boards under his supervision and totaly scrued up. Kelly made it up to me by teasing, tickeling and "accidently" stepping on my feet while I was the one holding the boards.
All in all it was a fun weekend not at least because of all the little accidents and things that did not work out 100% the way it was planed (there was a three centimeter distance between the board and the wall) and all the laughters which were the result of it. It was also I good experience becuase I learned a lot about ceiling, "serious" work and specialy about measuring. I am very much looking forward to the next building weekend.
