Roadtrip

03.January 2015 - Queenstown

By mistake I delited my text which I spend an hour on writing, so here is a short version.
Boxing day me and two british girls, Amber and Deborah, and french Robin startet off to Kaikoura, where we did some whale watching. We saw two sperm whales, dusky dolphins and albatrosses. On our way to Kaikoura we stopped at a waterfall to see seals. We slept on a beautiful campsite at the sea, where I found some Pauashells and we fell asleep under the stars untill it got to cold. The next day we drove to Lake Tekapo, where we slept in the shared house of a friend we knew from Koanui. We saw a beautiful double rainbow across the blue water. Next day with another german girl, Levina, we set off to Mount Cook, where we climbed the mountain next to it which has a hight off about 1800 meters. The first etappe was 2200 stairs, afterwards you had to climb over rocks and snow, guided by orange flags. It took us a few hours, but we had lots of fun, especially sitting in the snow with our T-shirts on because it was so warm. We slept in Mueller Hut, where we saw sunset and got up for sunrise the next day. Climbing down was partly scary because of beeing slippery and steep but at the bottom we had the best burger ever before sleeping at a freedom campsite at Lake Pukaki. The next day we headed to Queenstown, where we camped about 12 Miles out of town. It was rainy in the night and also the next day, where we climbed up another hill to see Ambers Bungyjump (the Gondola was too expensive). In the evening we saw the fireworks in the city. Next we headed to Te Anau, where we did the Milford Cruise. We saw some Keas and Milford Sound (which is actually a fjord) looked amazing with all the waterfalls. Now our group split up because of having different plans, but we are probably meeting again at one point. I am in Queenstown again for the night and then head to Dunedin tomorrow, where I am gonna visit the chocolate factory, yumm! Happy new year and see you in less than three month! Barbara xx
