Hoi An

02.March 2013 - Vietnam

Here we are in Hoi An, our favorite place so far, a small picturesque fishing town, and beaches just a bike ride away. YESSS we thought, the first day we arrive in 30-something degrees, finally we can enjoy some well-deserved R&R time (rest and relax), because travelling is pretty exhausting you know! ;-) Guess what, day 2 till the day we leave nothing but clouds and rain, of course. So no R&R time for us on the heavenly white beach. Good thing that Hoi An is also well-known for good food and great tailors. So to pass time and do something useful, other than enjoying this beautiful little laidback (it is a walking town, so motorbikes are set back to a minimum) town, we decided to go shopping and get full on food! As for the shopping we found a good address straight away on the first moment that we hit town. We must admit that the rainy weather drained our pockets/wallets! We just took advantage of the opportunity to have some suits/shirts/dresses/shoes made to our size, and not to sound like a typical woman, BUT WE REALLY NEEDED THOSE THINGS. In order to avoid walking around like over-packed donkeys for the next six weeks we send a package of clothes home.

So basically during three days with did nothing more than going to the clothes/shoes shop to get measured, to fit anything that was ready, to get things readjusted, fit again and then pick up everything they had made for us. In between we made sure not to be underfed of course. In no time we had found our favorite addresses with great local specialties and in order not to lose weight and still fit in our new tailor made stuff we found a French patisserie with heavenly good hot chocolate (we were obviously freezing in the drizzling weather with only 20 degrees) and accompanying delicious cakes. What a life huh?! :p Well, excuse us for living it up, but we have only SIX WEEKS left, so the end of this trip is starting to feel quite unusually close, so we just feel like we must enjoy while we still can ;-)

Talk to you later!
