Bangkok part I

20.March 2013 - Thailand islands

Sawadee kha/khap!

From Siem Reap we made our way to Bangkok, Thailand?s capital city. Another bus trip, another adventure. When we saw the minivan we were going to drive from the Cambodian border to Bangkok, we were actually relieved. The van looked brand new, so we thought we would actually be making it into our destination without any hazards. That was without considering our driver? We stopped at the gas station soon after getting started, but funny enough the driver only took about 3 liters of gas. Sure enough not long after we stood still at the side of the road. When we asked what was going on, why we were standing still he mentioned it would only be for 10 minutes. After asking again he admitted we were standing still because the van ran out of gas?.! The ten minutes we waited ended up being almost 1,5 hours in the midday heat. (no gas, no engine running, no air conditioning) Later as we came to the gas station, we figured out why he had only taken so little, he wanted to take LPG at a particular gas station and in order to make it there he only took 3 liters, unluckily that was just not enough to make it to the gas station of his choice! We are started to think we have bad karma, three bus trips and three break downs in a row?

By the time we arrived in Bangkok it was already late, but luckily the van dropped us off not too far from our hotel. We had a quick bite to eat and then went straight to the hotel and to bed. Next day we explored Bangkok, I think we must have walked half a marathon. Taking a look at the King?s Palace, leaving it out for our next stop at Bangkok. Visiting Wat Po, which is famous for its large reclining Buddha. Went around China town and took a look at the railway station to figure out the way to the airport for the next day. Seen quite a lot, but still enough left to discover for when we get back before we fly home..!!!

Bye bye!
