Ko Kradan

30.March 2013 - Thailand islands

Hello!

So we spend Easter on an idyllic, remote little island in the Andaman Sea; KohKradan. So remote that even the Easter bunny was unsuccessful in finding us, so no eggs for us this year!

KohKradan, a small island that belongs to the group of Trang islands, such as KohMuk, KohRok and KohNgai. Apart from the 5 hotels on the island and a small local restaurant there is nothing else to find. So for two days all we really did was a bit of walking, some kayaking, swimming (just to cool off), and more importantly enjoying the scenic paradise views. Since the luxury resort was a bit out of our budget (and not even that nice as we passed it anyways) we decided to go back to basics and spend our nights in a traditional bamboo hut.

After Easter though we had to leave this little piece of heaven due to an obligated Visa run. As we travelled back into Thailand from Siem Reap (Cambodia) by bus, we only received a 15-day-visa, lasting only till April 3rd. Since we will only be leaving Thailand on April 15th we had to go back over the border in order to maintain another 15-day-visa. So we took the boat from KohKradan to Trang where we arranged for a private car with driver the same day, to get a new visa at the Malaysian border. The actual visa process was done in about 5 minutes, we actually never even made into Malaysia, we just stamped in and out at the same window in front of the border. As we were getting back to our driver we were taken aside by some army officers. We almost started worrying when our driver explained they wanted to take a picture to advertise the easy border crossing process. Quite funny actually, so for those who will be going to Thailand in the future, you might see us on a billboard at the border ;-)

Ciao!
