Birthday

16.February 2012 - Sydney

Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to meeee

yeah... that could have been me, if fate hasn't been grateful with me.

With kind of a bad timing, celebrating the 20th birthday, which is kind of special in Germany and beeing back home for my 21st, which is special in Australia, I guess we made the best out of it.

Anik (I met Anik in Cairns and when stayed in contact, to travel in New Zealand together) told me that he will arrive in Sydney on the 15th of February - perfect timing!

Anja (a friend from highschool) left Sydney to go for a little roadtrip but came back earlier then she thought she would, happend to be the 16th of February.

The weather was beautiful, it was hot and I had the chance to celebrate my birthday the first time in summer :). What else to do than to go to the beach?! So Anik and I made our way to Manly to have a really relaxed afternoon, enjoying the sun, went for some bodysurfing, talking about New Zealand and telling us all the things that happend since Anik left Cairns.
After that we had a quick glimbse at the Australian Surf Open that where held at Manly Beach - the waves weren't very high, but these dudes... amazing what they made out of it.

Nevertheless it got late and we headed back for Sydney CBD. The beer was cool, the people from my appartment came back from work, Sam (he moved in another apparment) came over, Anik ringed me to open the door, after he had to go back to his hostel. And a bit late Anja was comming over aswell with a little suprise - a delicious birthday cake (thanks again :D) and we finished the beer had a nice evening and prepared for later.

Anja, Sam, Anik and I made our way to Kings Cross and the World Bar to meet Clemens there and had a good night dancing to the wiered DJ's the World Bar has to offer :D.

Overall it was definitly a diffrent birthday, but still a good one, I could get used celebrating in summer instead of winter. Nevertheless is it wiered to celebrate birthday without all the friends and family from back home.

To don't make another entry: On the 21st of February our plane was departing from Sydney Airport and Anik and I were on our way to New Zealand for the next four weeks :).

So far - I will see if I can find some time to provide you with some stories from New Zealand, but I'm afraid I have to shorten NZ a bit if I want to keep on telling you what I do :D.

See you soon :)
