Last stop before Sydney

16.December 2011 - Coffs Harbour

Hey there,

Finaly I found some time to provide you at least with one more entry.

My last stop before I should arrive in Sydney and therefore finish my east coast trip was Coffs Harbour.

The city isn't the most beautiful one and the hostel was located neither at the beach nor the city, but in the middle of both. Nevertheless I had a good time in Coffs Harbour. Luckily in my room was one of the hostel staff members, who organized little events on a daily bases, just like Kayak-Tours, Surf and Bodyboard sessions at the beach or "Jumping from the jetty".
To cut it short, there wsa something to do every day and it was always good fun!

When I went on the Kayak Tour with two room mates, I saw the first wild snake, since I've been here in Australia, lying on a tree and soaking up the sun.
Another tour led me to the botanical gardens, which were, to my suprise, quite big. In fact I left a bit to early because on the way back I met a couple from the hostel and also on their way to the Botanical Gardens, when they came back to the hostel they showed me a video of a wild koala, crossing the road in the botanical gardens (yes it was moving!).

The most fun I had when we went to the beach and I could spend some time improving my surf-skills and of course enjoy the sunshine and the good wheather :).

Another highlight was the jetty - depending on the water level 4-6m high over the surface you could jump in the water from there. Somehow it's more fun to jump from this high, if you have to climb a rail first :D.

Near to the Jetty was a little half-island, which is a bird sanctuary and also nice to walk over, espacially because you get a nice view over the whole area around Coffs and the Ocean :).

So one can say I spend some good last days of my east coast travels before ariving in the big capital of New South Wales.

More to come in the following days (hopefully).

I hope everyone had a good start in 2012!

Have a good one,
Darius
