Arrival in Sydney, Christmas and a reunion

20.December 2011 - Wagstaffe

Hey buddies,

after Coffs Harbour my next destination was Sydney or better said: Wagstaffe. Wagstaffe is a really small town, 90minutes away from Sydney (I was suprised as well! :D). The reason why I went there was a family, which are friends of my godaunt and they offered me to stay at their place for a while. After all the hostels, etc. that was a more then welcomed offer as you can imagine, espacially because it was just before Christmas and I didn't want to celebrate Christmas on my own.

The family gave me a really warm welcome and everyone was really friendly to me, so I was very happy to be here instead of a hostel in the busy Sydney. I spend some time just relaxing on the porch with a great view on the Brisbane Waters before I was taken to a small secluded Beach - really beautiful and no other person was there except for us.

After two nights, some really good food and nice conversations I was charged again and took a train to meet one of my best friends from home, Dom. He did an internship in Sydney and just finished it before I arrived. But before we could meet I had to go to some Apartments and check if I find a pace to live for the next 7 weeks. (My money is running a bit low, so I have to look for some work. To find something in Wagstaffe is nearly impossible, so I decided to move to Sydney to find a job there).
On the second day in Sydney, inspecting the 3rd Aparment I found a place, payed the bond and could relax, since I could move in at the 31.dez and therefore even had a place to stay for NYE.
Apart from that I had some really nice days in Sydney and it was really great to meet a friend from home on the other side of the world :). His parents, who were here over christmas then invited us to a pre-christmas dinner, where we had some really good indian-food and exchanged our experiences - thank you for that :). As you may expect, we also went partying after and therefore had a really good night as well.

On Christmas Eve then, I went back to Wagstaffe, just in time to say hello to the first guests. And then the feast started... :D. Three days in a row with really nice people and guests, fantastic food and a good amount of beer ;) (eventhough I couldn't drink to much because I before christmas I had to go to the dentist and was told to take Anti-Biotics...). It was a really nice christmas and I was happy to celerate it with a family, but even on christmas day it doesn't felt like christmas at all - 28° and sunshine is just not the weather im used to have on christmas.

After these really nice days in Wagstaffe my next destination were the Blue Mountains, where I wanted to do a 3day hike with a friend from Noosa. But that is another story ;).

Bye!
