Coast Walk, Australia Zoo and Surfing

30.November 2011 - Noosa

Hey there,

after my stay on Fraser Island and in Hervey Bay, my next destination was Noosa.
Noosa is a nice little town, with some really nice beaches, close to the Australia Zoo and with some nice walking tracks.
On the first day in Noosa I went for the Coastal Walk - an 2 1/2 hour walk along the Coast of Noosa. The walk itself was very nice and you had some beautiful scenic lookouts along the track. One of them is called Hells Gate. If you are lucky, you can see some dolphines swimming pass it. While I was reading one of the information signs about the area a local guy informed me about a school of dolphines swimming close to the lookout - and I thought I would have to wait for hours to see some :).

The second day in Noosa I visited the Australia Zoo famous for his former Owner - Steve Irwin, who got killed by a Sting Ray in 2006.
I have to admit that I don't like zoo's very much, but I thought about giving this one a try since it's really big (or at least was supposed to be) and is quite famous. As the zoo's I've already been to - I didn't like this one as well. The shows were quite good and it was nice to feed and pet some kangeroos, but apart from this it was kinda boring. When you've already saw all these animals, like koalas and others, in the wild nature, it doesn't give you the same feeling to see them in the zoo, where you pay to see them instead of really search for them. It's nothing special anymore of you know what I want to say.

The next days I spent at another really nice Hostel in Noosa, with free breakfast, surf-board hire and Internet. As you can imagine I used the free surf-board hire as often as possible, eventhough its still very exhausting for the whole body - it really makes you tired...
On wednesday there was a 8$ All-You-Can Eat Pizza-Offer at the hostel, which I enjoyed very much.

Oh and I almost forgot to tell you - I was very close from going back to Fraser Island! I met a guy in the hostle, who wanted to do the Great Walk on Fraser - a ~100km long walk along some of the most interesting parts of Fraser Island. The idea of staying on this beautiful place for another 8 days or even more, camping at the beach and get to know the island from a whole other perspective was very tempting, but soon we got aware that the Track is closed because of the risk of bushfires... :(

So instead going back to Fraser I headed for Brisbane on the 3rd of december.

Noosa was really a very nice place and I probably could have spend here some more weeks, if I didn't wanted to be in Sydney around christmas and NYE.

Greetings to all of you, have a nice christmas-time :)
