Last Leg for Matt

20.November 2010 - Christchurch

We arrived in Christchurch a bit too late to really do anything except wander around and admire the lovely gothic architecture.

Even though it's very different from Queenstown (Christchurch is much less dramatic and energetic -it is laid back, it would make a good atmosphere for studying and reading, lots of arts and theatre and culture, and chilled out - "cruisy" to use the Kiwi term) - Christchurch and Queenstown are tied for my favourite town so far position. If I had to live in one, it would definitely be Christchurch though - the atmosphere just suits me better (where Queenstown is all about bungy jumping, white water rafting and sky diving, Christchurch is about hot air balloon rides, punting on the river Avon and going on the tram to see the gardens and the cathedral.)

This morning Matt went home - that is to say he embarked on the epic journey from Christchurch to Auckland, Auckland to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to London and London to his home in MK. He'll get back in a couple of days ;)

So soon I'll be back to my HelpXing ways around South Island. I can see why people say South Island is more awesome than North Island -I'm inclined to agree!
