Heading South now I'm in Oamaru, famed for two things - the historic buildings ("historic" being a relative term of course!) and colonies of yellow penguins and blue penguins ( you know you're heading south when there's talk of penguins!) which it charges a bit to go and see so I won't bother.

The historic buildings are cooler than they sound - filled up with arts and crafts shops and little touches that make a difference like having randomers wandering about with Victorian clothes on, penny farthings and wooden carts. They seem to just enjoy that Oamaru has something special and get behind it for that.

Next up on my journey after the week here is Dunedin.
