From San Francisco to Yellowstone national park's west entrance is an 18h drive. Originally we had planned to split it in 2 days but once we were driving we decided to get it all done in one go. So we took turns driving again and reached the park entrance very late on the 13th. we were all very tired and just passed out almost right after we stopped driving. the next day we drove through the park. yellowstone is huge really (basically as big as a state in germany) and under its surface is one of the biggest volcanic hot spots on earth. the activity of that volcano is shown in the many hot tubs and geysers in the park of which "old faithful" is the biggest. the park is very impressing in the sense that you really get a feel for its untouched beauty and the roughness of this piece of land in northern wyoming. theres also a lot of wild game in yellowstone including several thousand moose and elk and herds of bison buffalos plus the grizzly bears of course. on our way out we even saw a lonesome bison close up as it very calmly crossed the street in front of us. in the evening we drove out of yellowstones east entrance and found a campsite in cody, a town closeby.

Von San Francisco bis nach Yellowstone ist ein 18 stündiger fahrtweg. eigentlich hatten wir geplant uns die strecke in 2 tage aufzuteilen aber als wir erstmal am fahren waren entschieden wir uns alles in einem ritt durchzuziehen und kamen so am ebend des 13. kurz vorm westlichen eingang zum yellowstone an und fielen totmüde ins bett. am nächsten tag erkundeten wir dann yellowstone. der park ist wirklich riesig (so groß wie ein bundesland in deutschland) und unter seiner oberfläche schlummert ein riesiger teilweise aktiver vulkan. dessen aktivität kann man auch als parkbesucher an vielen stellen beobachten. so sahen wir zahlreiche heiße quellen, schlammlöcher aus denen blasen blubberten und große geysiere, von denen "old faithful" der größte ist. yellowstone begründet seine faszination in der unberührtheit seiner natur, welche wirklich beeindruckend ist. außerdem gibt es natürlich auch zahlreiches wild im yellowstone, darunter tausende elche, hirsche, herden von bisons und grizzly bären. auf unserer tour sahen wir dann auch ein einsames bison welches in völliger ruhe direkt vor usn die straße überquerte (davon gibts leider keine fotos nur ein video, weil die kamera schneller zur hand war).

PS: fotos hoffen wir bald hochladen zu können allerdings dauert das immer sehr lange und die wlan verbindungen auf den campingplätzen sind nicht besonders toll.
