11.July 2010 - Darwin

As you can see, we went swimming as often as we could on our way up to Darwin =) First, we found thermal pools in Mataranka which were wonderful after having such a cold weather in Alice Springs and around. It was reeeaaally good because the night before, our first night out of Alice, we all slept in the car... We were five people! That night was more than aweful! O.o We were not able to stretch our legs and to sleep in a sitting position is not the most comfortable way to sleep...
Anyway, it was another experience =)) We also spent two days in the Nitmiluk N.P. (Edith Falls). We were not used to such high temperatures so that it was relieving to swim in a cold lake. Everytime when I went into the water, I was a bit scared due to the sign which was next to the kiosk saying that they feed the crocodiles at 7pm... And that everybody has to get out of the water at 6pm... The water wasn't clear at all and it was quite deep... Fazit: You were not able to see what's under you... But anyway it was sooo cool!! =))
The night before we went to Litchfield N.P. (just before Darwin), we made stick bread. We actually wanted to do that weeks ago, but we never managed to do it^^
Litchfield N.P. was not as impressing as we thought although it was still nice. Madeleine and me, we tried to make the track more interesting so that we walked through a small river where there were so many spider nets with disgusting spiders in them, that we returned after a few minutes... =)
DARWIN! I had so much fun in Darwin!! Twice a week there is a market where you can get everything you ever wished and more!! We always got a crèpes when we were there... DELICIOUS!!! =) There was also shown the movie Avatar in open air and for free! And we went out a few times ;) The picture which you can see with Therese, Geeke and me in a club was on a ladies night at the Vic... All in all, we had soooo much fun!!! =)) I also had a pretty good spot for sleeping, no disturbance of Aboriginies nor other problems =)
The last days in Darwin we were looking for another person to join us for going down the west coast. Actually we were looking for a handsome guy with little luggage... and then we found Karen... She is from Hong Kong and had a suit case, a big backpack and a medium backpack........ You can see my overpacked Nulla on the last picture... =)))
