windy city

15.July 2010 - Chicago

Chicago is great! We arrived yesterday after two days on the road. The sun was shining but the wind blew hard just as the stories about this city always tell.
I switch into English now because we're already used to that language. With Giulia and Antonia we also talk English all the time. Luckily, Anna and I had English as one of our advanced courses in school, so that's not a big problem. OK, it was a bit difficult in the beginning, but now it's really cool.
Chicago also has these skyscrapers downtown like NYC, but here is the Willis Tower (former Sears Tower) that is quite famous. We wanted to go up, but it was way too expensive for us. Antonia had the idea to go into one of the near skyscrapers, take the elevator to the highest store and ask if we can have a look out of the windows. But we didn't do it...somehow we were too shy.
Downtown Chicago, the Loop, is very cosmopolitan because of all the high-rise buildings and boulevards and shops and so on...kind of like Frankfurt/Main just bigger.
Our next plan is to travel south-west so we can hold our direction to SF. Giulia and Antonia will stay here for longer thus Anna and me will move on alone again. But we don't know yet, what will be our next destination.
