Life in a metropole

03.February 2013 - Sydney City

Yesterday, I changed to the Student House from our school. My host family was very good, I liked them really, the food was excellent and the house was all right. But it was a little bit too far away from the city centre, and that was the reason I decided to move out and go to a place more in the centre. Therefore, the Student House is the place to be.

In the house, I have a room with two other guys. Totally we are 10 people in the house, 2 of them are in my class and the most of them I've already known before I moved in. So it is just perfect, I'm really happy with my decision to move.

Life in a city like Sydney is quite different from my normal one in Switzerland. There are more people everywhere, and there is always something to do. I just love it, to be honest. In the evening, you have about one million different possibilities for going out.

Last week I was at IMAX at Darling Harbour - it was the biggest screen all over the globe, so it was an awsome experience - even it was "The Hobbit", a movie I've already seen.

Today, I went to the Blue Mountains. We booked a trip by an organisation called "colourful trips" - but the trip was most of the time green ;-) No, just joking - we saw a lot of forest, maybe that is the reason for that. In the morning we left by bus from Central Station in Sydney, heading to the featherdale wildlife park. After a journey about an hour, we finally arrived and got our tickets. In the park, we saw a big range of different Australien animals. When you think about an Australian animal, its clear that you mean a Kangaroo - but there are a lot of more, like Quala-Bears, different kind of reptils and a huge variety of birds. We had also the possibility to touch some Kangaroos, was very funny to feed them :) I took a lot of pictures, I hope I can share some here in my blog :-)

After leaving the wildlife park behind us, we drove directly to the Blue Mountains. As soon as we arrived, we left the bus and did some hiking through the forest. It was a real feeling like going through the jungle, so it was quite exciting. I expectet to see a lot of vermin, but it wasn't like that - happy about that :D Later, we had a barbecue lunch, where we could try Kangaroo meat - kind of strange to eat an animal, after touch it some hours ago :) I really liked the taste, so it wasn't the last time I'll eat it.
The whole day was great, despite of the weather which was not that good as expectet :)

Next week, I hope we gonna have better weather than the last one, was sometimes a little bit rainy...I wanna go to the beach again :)

See you soon, best wishes :)
