Alice Springs

08.June 2013 - Alice Springs

I finally arrived in Alice Springs on Saturday. Arriving around lunch time gave me plenty of time to have a look around. Alice itself has about 25.000 people living there but the main street is rather small. Lots of Aborigines are hanging around town and you're told not to walk alone during night time. Which doen't make you feel very comfortable.
But during the day it's alright so I went to the Royal Flying Doctors Service Museum, which was quite interesting. By now they have quite a programme, although there main purpose is still the rescue in the remote areas of Australia, they also now do preventive medical care.
In only 20 percent of the flight it is decided to take a doctor normally there is only a nurse.
Most stations have a big medical box with the most common and important medicine in it. We had it at my first job as well. So if you feel sick you can call them and describe your symptoms with a chart and the doctor then says you have to take that medicine in that dose. And it apparently works out quite well.

Then I went to the office of my Red Center Tour. There I found out that my booking didn't come through. I got a booking ID when I booked it but then in the office a different booking was under that number. But luckily they were able to book me in to the tour on Sunday cause on Monday they didn't have a seat anymore.
