It was really interesting how much life is in deserts.
At 4 pm, we left Alice Springs to catch our plane to...]]>

Kings Canyon: last day http://www.mymapblog.com/wombatpaul/10_08_09/last_day_/ http://www.mymapblog.com/wombatpaul/10_08_09/last_day_/ ULURU, Ayers Rock: sunset at the red rock On the next morning we went to see ULURU at sunrise which was even more impressive than the sunset, because you saw the stripe of the rising sun, wandering down ULURU until the rock was purpur orange.
After walking around ULURU, which was a 3.5 h walk (9km) we went to see Kata Tutja (Olgas), which is another rock formation near ULURU consisting of several stone, not of one stone like ULURU. Because some guys (me included) had a nice hangover from last n8t, the wlks were really good to forget about the annoying head ache =)
Afterwards we went to Kings Canyon, which was a 4 h drive, and set up a camp with fire place. On of the American girls (Shannon) had a great idea to do a talent show in the evening. That was such a great idea, because all the other groups in the camp joined us, so that we were about 60 people wathing some idiots performing funny crap. it was so hilarious. Charlie and me performed a sing-along time after time, which was great fun. After this we slowly went to bed about 2 am (sleep-in til 7 next morning!!) watching the most beautiful sky full of stars I've ever seen. After breakfast and packing our stuff next morning we went to...]]>

Our tour guide was a 28 yo girl from Alive Springs, called Kate.
Firstly there is to say that the weather was unbelievable good, because it was not too hot, but always sunny without any clouds, perfect conditions for an outback tour. And secondly, Kate was the best thing that could happen to us, as you will read. It was her last tour before her holidays (4 months in south east asia!!!)
The first two days of our tour we stayed in Quorn, a nice little town in the Flinders Ranges which is a green hilly pasture land. We did 2 nice walks to discover the flora and fauna of Flinders Ranges, saw a cave with aboriginal paintings and ruins of settlers, who tried to live inb this dry area in 1863. The meals wre always team work, on the first day we had a bbq wirh kangaroo, emu and camel meat (very good), and on the secaond day curry. We also saw some kangaroos and yellow-footed rock wallabies (they were so cute). On the 7/08/09 our tour went on to...]]>
